Bio Page for Marijo Grogan

During her childhood, Marijo was exposed to art through summer classes at Cranbrook Art Academy. In college, she was trained as a Waldorf-Steiner teacher. This European educational system focuses on integrating the arts and science. As part of the curriculum, she studied painting and sculpture and spent a year studying art history in Italy.

Later, Marijo lived in Japan for a year and traveled throughout Mexico. She credits the art she encountered on her journeys as influencing her folk art style. Marijo has studied color theory with Leslie Masters and is a member of the Ann Arbor Women Artists. She has participated in juried art exhibits, an artist residence program and has exhibited at Art 634, Big Tree Gallery, University of Michigan - School of Education, and in the Adam and Eve traveling exhibit. She currently has her own gallery Studio Artemis housed at Art 634.

Spiral Healing is Marijo’s family therapy practice. She is dedicated to exploring the connection between healing and the arts and has been involved in creating community arts projects including: Art for Beslan Russian, the Global Art Project, the Day of the Dead Exhibit and the Canticle of Creation Project.
