Every Wednesday - Open Art

Join us every Wednesday at ART 634 in Jackson, Michigan for Open Art – a day-long open art session running from noon to 7 PM! Whether you're an experienced artist or just getting started, this is your chance to work on your own art project in a welcoming, collaborative environment. Be inspired by fellow artists, get advice, and network with other creatives and artisans.

From 4 to 7 PM, talented artist annie! Wade will be hosting an open sewing room on the second floor. Participants of all ages are welcome to bring their materials and equipment, and she will work with you one-on-one to help you complete your project. She’ll also provide guidance on selecting the right tools and materials and how to use them.

Come for a day of creativity, community, and learning!

Friday, July 11 - Facing Reality: An Exploration of All Facets of “Face"

As part of The Power of Words: A Transformative Art Series, this group exhibition explores the multifaceted meanings of the word “Face." From literal human features to metaphorical concepts like facing challenges or societal expectations, artists offer diverse interpretations of “face" in its emotional, cultural, and architectural dimensions.

Through various mediums, the show highlights the courage in confronting adversity, the masks we wear for social reputation, and the transformative power of facing one's emotions and truths.

CALL FOR ART:
Artists interested in submitting work for Facing Reality: An Exploration of All Facets of “Face”, are encouraged to email art634jackson@gmail.com by midnight on Friday, June 27, 2025. Please include pictures of the work, size of the piece, and the materials used. There is no limit to the number of pieces entered. A committee of artists will review each submission and will notify artists by email. Selected art must be dropped off on July 6th, 4-6 pm.

Saturday, August 2 - Circus of Curiosities

Circus of Curiosities collides with Unveiled: An Unapologetically Erotic Art Show on Saturday, August 2nd beginning at 6:30pm. This year's show features the work of over twenty artists from across Michigan. The theme for this year's event is Salvador Dali's Circus. Costumes are strongly encouraged! We kindly ask that all costumes cover genitalia and maintain sanitary considerations for seating.

This show will be accompanied by a Dali themed grazing table and dessert, as well as a cash bar benefiting GIG: The Art of Michigan Music. “Unveiled” is a 21+ event and includes entertainment that becomes curiously more kinkcentric as the night goes on.

This is a no pictures event. This means there are no phones/cameras allowed out within the venue space. If you need to take a call or send a text, we kindly ask that you go outside to do so. We will have photo/selfie opportunities for you, and you are welcome to take photos outdoors and within the main building of Art 634. Not following this event guideline could void ticketed entry, and you may be asked to leave the event. There will be designated photographers/videographers onsite to document the event, most specifically performers. Your attendance at the event gives consent for the designated photographers/videographers to document this year's event as hired.

Friday, August 15 - Elders in Art: A Celebration of Timeless Creativity

Come check out Elders in Art: A Celebration of Timeless Creativity! This awesome exhibition showcases the amazing works of senior artists, celebrating their ongoing contributions to the art community. With their unique perspectives and experienced hands, these artists bring a special touch that deepens our appreciation of art and life.

Artwork by artists over the age of 60 will be on display in the Art 634 galleries, highlighting their talent and their continued dedication to inspiring and uplifting others. Elders in Art is a testament to the timeless nature of artistic expression and its lasting impact for generations to come.

Swing by for the opening reception on Friday, August 15, from 6-9 pm and get inspired by the beauty and depth of Elders in Art.

Sunday, August 31 - Creative Aspirations Workshop (C.A.W.): “Fabric Printing”

Join local creatives at Art 634 on the last Sunday of each month, from 1 to 3 PM, for a fun and hands-on workshop. This month’s session will focus on fabric printing. Participants will be learning different methods to put designs on clothing and general fabric such as found objects, linocut stamps, cyanotype sun printing, and will learn how how to create natural inks.

Every other month, They host a FREE open creative workshop, where attendees are encouraged to bring materials for upcycling. It’s a fun, supportive environment to work on your own projects or revisit past workshop creations. Whether you're crafting solo or collaborating, you're sure to have a great time and make new friends! The open workshop runs from 1-3 pm at Art 634 and is intended for ages 18+.

Participants will be transforming worn or used clothing and repurposing them into cold weather pieces. Basic sewing techniques will be covered.
